A day to go down in History...
As my Mom has been saying, yesterday was a day to go down in the history of the Stewie family! My parents have been so cute, loving and sharing our news with everyone. Many of you are probably wondering why a new car, when our car was only two and a bit years old. So here's the story of yesterday....
Chris and I were up after only 2 hours of sleep to catch the earliest ferry to the island. We had a little nap on the ferry ride over, so we managed to make it through the day without feeling completley exhausted. On the ride down, my car started acting up a bit. It was shaky and hesitated when we tried to accelerate. It literally felt like one of the wheels could not keep up with the rest and it was skipping or something. We figured this was the same type of problem we had with the rear bearing a few months back. Although we were pretty sure our suspicions were right, we decided to find the Ford dealership once we hit town to give us some piece of mind for the weekend. It was quite the venture to find the dealership, especially considering the "small town" instructions we were given. "Umm, go to the new intersection and its across from the Canadian Tire, go up the hill, on the right." Okay.....great...Where is the new intersection in town???? What hill are we talking about? Needless to say, we had to call the dealership directly for some help on that one!
When we arrived they had a look at our car to find it was the front wheel bearing and centre bearing too. They had the wheel bearing, but not the other one so they couldn't fix the problem completley. It was totally covered under our stellar extended warranty, but how inconvienant! So during this long wait, we started talking with one of the salesmen about the Comox Valley, he too had moved here from the mainland with his family over 10 years ago. We started asking some questions about the value of my car with such high mileage and realized we could move into a new car with more accessories (air conditioning, power windows and power locks, and butt warmers too) for just about the same per month! How cool is that?!?!?! So, my hubby and I made our first huge purchase together and we are so excited! It will be cool in the summer and has four doors for the kids!!! The dealership was so excited about how we came to visit my parents and ended up buying a car, so our picture was taken and it is going to be put in the local paper! They kept joking that next time we come, we are going to buy a house!!! What a blessing....I think we are still in awe about what happened yesterday. You mean we own that car? That car that has power locks and windows??!?!? We have never owned a car with those perks and if it did have those perks, they didn't work!!! A funny part for those of you that know my Dad. He of course had to come down when he found out we were at the Ford dealership, but instead of coming in his Mustang he brought his Ford work truck (which was purchased from them) and immediatley handed the sales guy his business card when he walked in and made sure along the way that we were being taken care of and given a good deal!
So after the paperwork was done, we grabbed a bite to eat with my parents at a cute Mexican restaurant in Courtney. Chris and I went for a walk through the town and then met up with my parents at the Condo. Last night we went out to visit my parents landlords for appys and drinks. Chris got the royal tour of the "Hidden Springs" and also got to see "The Cottage" and a quick stop at my parents lot. My parents do a great job of playing tour guide!
This morning we got up and had breakfast together and then went out to the Coombs Market and check out the goats on the roof!
It's been a spectacular getaway weekend as you can imagine! I will post more pictures later.
